As your team grows, control becomes harder. One seller uploads a property with blurry photos, another forgets to fill in the description, a third enters a typo in the price. Before you know it, that property is already on the portals with your brokerage's name next to it. The image of the brand depends on the quality of every single listing, and that quality should not rely on each team member's personal attention.
That is why we are launching the new Property Moderation system: a Business and Business Manager plan feature that lets you review and approve every property uploaded by your sellers before it is published on the portals.
How it works
The flow is simple and transparent for the entire team.
When a seller uploads a property, instead of the usual Publish button, they see a Request Authorization button. When pressed, the system validates that the property has the minimum required data (type, operation, price, address, map location and at least one image) and sends the request directly to the account administrator.
The administrator receives an automatic email with the property's key data and a direct link to the moderation page. In addition, a prominent card appears on the main panel with the counter of pending requests, so no request goes unnoticed among other tasks.
From the moderation page, the administrator sees the complete list of properties waiting for authorization. Each card displays the main image, code, price, title, address, type, operation, the branch uploading it, and the seller's name. Everything needed to decide without entering the detail view.
One-click approval
When the administrator is satisfied with the property, they press Approve. A confirmation dialog prevents accidental approvals and, upon confirmation, three things happen automatically:
- The property disappears from the pending list.
- The seller receives a confirmation email letting them know their property has been authorized.
- The Publish button reappears in the seller's toolbar, finally enabling publication on the portals.
If the administrator prefers to review the property in detail before approving it, they can press the View button on the card and open the full property page. From there, they can also approve it directly: while the property is pending, the toolbar shows an Approve button in place of the usual Publish.
Visual indicators throughout the system
The moderation status of each property is visible in many places:
- In the property listing, properties that need authorization show a tag Pending or Authorize, depending on their state.
- Once approved, a blue verification icon appears next to the publication state.
- On the main panel, an amber bar highlights the number of pending requests whenever there is one waiting.
- In the property toolbar, a Pending authorization badge appears while the seller waits for the administrator's resolution.
This way, the entire team always knows the status of every property.
Designed for accounts with a team
Moderation is specifically designed for real estate agencies with sellers. The administrator and managers still publish their own properties directly, without intermediate steps. Only properties uploaded by sellers go through the approval flow.
In single-user accounts (where the administrator uploads all properties), moderation does not appear anywhere. The system activates automatically when it detects that there are sellers in the account and the plan is Business or above.
Protected against plan changes
We take care of your data at all times. If for any reason the account cancels or downgrades from Business to a lower plan, the system automatically rejects all pending moderation requests. Properties are preserved intact with all their data; only the request states are resolved so nothing is left in limbo.
When the account regains Business, sellers can once again request authorization for their unpublished properties.
Frictionless subsequent edits
Once approved, a property does not need to go through moderation again every time the seller makes changes. If the seller corrects the price, adjusts the description, or uploads new images, the approval stays. We made this decision so the team can iterate on details without friction, once the administrator has already given the green light to the property.
Availability
Property Moderation is available starting today on all accounts with Business and Business Manager plans. It requires no additional setup: it activates automatically when you subscribe to the plan.
If you currently have a lower plan and want to use this feature, you can upgrade your subscription from Settings > Upgrade in your Mapaprop account.
What's coming
This is the first version of the moderation system, and we are already working on improvements for upcoming iterations: rejection with reason (where the administrator can ask the seller to fix a specific aspect), bulk approval (to approve multiple properties with a single click), moderation history for the seller, and more granular flow configuration.
If you have suggestions about what else the system should include, let us know. Mapaprop is built with the constant feedback of our real estate agency community.
